Russia will impose high duties on foreign cars to Belarus and Kazakhstan
Establishment of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan has passed the final stage: at the end of November, the parties plan to sign the contract. After that countries will be shared almost everything: the Customs Code, the external borders and even import duties on foreign cars, which intends to seek unification of Moscow.

The package of documents on the establishment of the Customs Union heads of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will be signed on 27 November in Minsk. According to Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko, we are talking about a single Customs Code, a single tariff for imports and the list of goods to which restrictions would apply to the importation or exportation.
According to plans, from 1 January 2010 on the border of Russia and Belarus wont be customs control. From 1 July 2011 will disappear the border with Kazakhstan. The end of 2010 Kazakhstan has finished equipping its border to the south: the lack of demarcation in many parts of the external borders of that country is Russia’s concern.
Major issues to establish the Customs Union resolved, said the Vedomosti governmental official, adding that “work” boils “: on October 21 commission meeting scheduled Union - need to take an enormous amount of regulations.
Duties on foreign cars
The introduction in 2010, a unified customs tariff, according to Deputy Minister of Economic Development Andrei Slepnev, will reduce average tariffs on imports to Russia of about 1%. True, for example, import duties on foreign cars will be aligned at the level of Russia. The fact that Russia insists on the high import duties on cars, said commission chairman and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community Anatoly Vaskov. “Fees duties must maintain its manufacturer. For Russia it is very important,” - he said. The question of duties on cars is a problem since the inception of the Russia-Belarus Union in the mid-nineties. Because, unlike Russia, Belarus does not produce cars, then in this regard the interests of Minsk and Moscow differ.
Now on the new car import tax in Russia is 30%, but no less than 1,2-2,8 Euro per 1 cu. cm of the engine. By car 3-5 years - 35%, but no less than 1,2-2,8 Euro per 1 cu. cm, over five years - 2,5-5,8 Euro per 1 cu. See in Belarus and Kazakhstan duties below, said Officer Ministry of Economic Development. According to him, is not out of a transitional period, when each state will maintain its bets on foreign cars.
Establishment of the Customs Union in trade relations between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus global changes nothing: with these countries and acts as a free trade zone, experts say, which refer to “Vedomosti”. Political analysts note that the actual integration processes in Russia have never been particularly valuable.
